    born in 1919 Jacgues Mahoney, he served in the Marine corps as a pilot in WWII, after the war he moved to Hollywood and the 6ft 4 tall Mahoney qucikly became Hollywood's top stunt man doubling for stars like Errol Fylnn, by 1947 the handsome Mahoney was working in comedy short westerns with the 3 Stooges, in !948 Mahoney was beat out by Lex Barker for the role of Tarzan, Mahoney sometimes billed as Jacgues, Jock o Mahoney, starred in many westerns, sci fi, some drama films. In 1951 he starred in the popular Range Rider Tv series, and then in the TV series western Yancy Derringer in 1958, film Producer Sy Weintraub was changing Tarzan films more to the Burrough's character in the Tarzan books, and in 1959 Jock Mahoney played the villian to Gordon Scott's Tarzan in Tarzan the Magnificent, the film had a fantastic 10 minute fight scene bettween Scott, and Mahoney, Gordon Scott left the role of, and Mahoney at 44 years of age became the next Tarzan, Mahoney starred in Tarzan Goes to India, Tarzan's Three Challenges with Woody Strode, Mahoney then left the role of Tarzan, and actor Ron Ely went on to star in the NBC tv series Tarzan with Mahoney playing different characters as a guest star, one of the shows a 2 parter was placed together and released as the film Tarzan's Deadly Silence, Mahoney suffered from health problems, and returned to work as stunt cordinator for Bo Derek's Tarzan the Ape Man in 1981, Mahoney was also the step father of actress Sally Field he died in 1989.
