John Butler was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Butler's earliest roles were in film, including "Expensive Husbands" (1937), "Some Blondes Are Dangerous" (1937) and "Accidents Will Happen" (1938). He also appeared in "Pride of the Blue Grass" (1939) and "Torchy Runs For Mayor" (1939). He continued to work steadily in film throughout the forties, appearing in "We Who Are Young" (1940), the Billy Halop dramatic comedy "Mob Town" (1941) and the spy picture "Fly By Night" (1942) with Nancy Kelly. He also appeared in the John Garfield crime adaptation "Force of Evil" (1948) and "Sinister Journey" (1948). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in the fantastical comedy "It Happens Every Spring" (1949) with Ray Milland, "Between Midnight and Dawn" (1950) and the Alan Ladd western "Branded" (1950). He also appeared in the crime drama "Strangers On a Train" (1951) with Farley Granger. Butler was most recently credited in "Six Degrees" (ABC, 2006-07). Butler passed away in October 1967 at the age of 83.
