Norma Donaldson's talent as an actress was best showcased by her dramatic film work. Donaldson started her acting career landing roles in films, such as the action film "Across 110th Street" (1972) with Anthony Quinn, the crime picture "Willie Dynamite" (1974) with Roscoe Ormon and the comedy "9 to 5" (1980) with Jane Fonda. She had an early role on the television special "Willow B: Women in Prison" (ABC, 1979-1980). Later, she earned a role in "Staying Alive" (1983) with John Travolta. She also starred in the TV movies "Inmates: A Love Story" (1980-81), "Farrell For the People" (NBC, 1982-83) and "Intimate Agony" (ABC, 1982-83). In more recent years, Donaldson had roles in the thriller "The Unholy" (1988) with Ben Cross, the Christopher "Kid" Reid comedy "House Party" (1990) and the comedic drama "The Five Heartbeats" (1991) with Robert Townsend. She also appeared in the Janet Jackson drama "Poetic Justice" (1993). Donaldson more recently acted in the Tyrone Power Jr. dramedy "Healer" (1994).
