German actor Uwe Ochsenknecht has enjoyed a prolific career in film and television, appearing in over 100 productions. Best known to international audiences for his performance as Chief Bosun in the classic war drama "Das Boot" directed by Wolfgang Peterson in 1981, Ochsenknecht began his film career nearly 10 years earlier in the TV movie "Freitraum, Bau 2." Ochsenknecht appeared in 12 films before his award-winning performance in 1985's "Men." propelled his career to a new level. The comedy, directed by Doris Dorrier, is about a man who moves in with his wife's lover. The film gained international attention and claimed several awards in Germany. Working consistently throughout the '80s and '90s, Ochsenknecht received his second German Film Award nomination in 1998 for the comedy "Christmas Fever," and won his second award in 2000 for "Football Rules Ok," playing the lead, Hans Pollak. The film is a comedy about a group of football-obsessed fans who kidnap their favorite star.
