Sinclair devoted his 20s to establishing himself as a pop star in his native country of France. A child of the music industry--his father worked as a sound engineer and his brother is a disc jockey--Sinclair spent most of the 1990s recording infectious award-winning albums that combined soul music with rhythm and blues. His move into the film world began in the 2000s. Sinclair (born Mathieu Blanc-Francard) composed and recorded an original score for the ensemble comedy "Whatever You Say," but he would soon demonstrate that his skills were not limited to music. Alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sinclair made his first appearance as an actor in "The Secret Adventures of Gustave Klopp," an unusual film about a very sleepy man and his eventful dreams. Soon enough, Sinclair was again immersed in music, recording soundtracks for several small films and appearing as a judge on an "American Idol"-like singing competition on French television. But toward the end of the 2000s, he enjoyed his biggest film success to date when he took on a two separate roles for the domestic drama "The First Day of the Rest of Your Life."
