During his Hollywood career, John Grant wrote a variety of screenplays. Grant started his comedic screenwriting career with movies like "In the Navy" (1941) with Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, "Hold That Ghost" (1941) with Bud Abbott and Lou Costello and "Keep 'Em Flying" (1941) with Bud Abbott and Lou Costello. He also appeared in the Bud Abbott film "Pardon My Sarong" (1942), "Who Done It?" (1942) with Bud Abbott and "Ride 'Em Cowboy" (1942) with Bud Abbott. In the forties, Grant devoted his time to various credits, such as "In Society" (1944) starring Bud Abbott, "Lost in a Harem" (1944) starring Bud Abbott and "Here Come the Co-eds" (1945). He also worked on "The Naughty Nineties" with Bud Abbott (1945). In the latter part of his career, Grant wrote the comedy "Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff" (1949) with Bud Abbott, "Abbott and Costello in the Foreign Legion" (1950) and the Bud Abbott comedy "Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man" (1951). He also appeared in the comedy "Abbott and Costello Meet Captain Kidd" (1952) with Bud Abbott. Grant last wrote the Bud Abbott comedy "Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy" (1955).
