An on-camera professional from the age of nine, Katherine Heigl was born in Washington D.C. in 1978. Growing up in New Canaan, Connecticut, Heigl was signed to Wilhelmina Models at age nine, so beginning a modeling career that would last throughout her teens as she modeled for brands such as Sears and Lord & Taylor, as well as magazines like Seventeen. Eager to break into acting, Heigl's first on-screen role would come with a minor appearance in the romantic drama "That Night" (1992). Her breakout role followed two years later, when she was cast as Gerard Depardieu's daughter in the hit family film "My Father the Hero" (1994). In 1999, Heigl was cast as the human-alien hybrid Isabel on the cult series "Roswell" (WB, 1999-2002). Heigl stuck with the series until it wrapped in 2002, and soon landed a role on an even bigger hit series, playing Dr Izzie Stevens on the medical drama "Grey's Anatomy" (ABC, 2005-). Heigl would continue to co-star on the show for the next five years, all the while appearing in movies as well, most notably the Judd Apatow comedy "Knocked Up" (2007) and the romantic comedy "27 Dresses" (2008). After starring in a number of films like the action comedy "One for the Money" (2012), Heigl returned to TV. She starred on the short-lived political drama "State of Affairs" (NBC, 2014-15) before joining the cast of the hugely popular legal drama "Suits" (USA, 2011-) in 2018.
