A 3'2" little person, Josh Ryan Evans left behind an enormous impression as a beloved actor. Born Jan. 10, 1982 in Hayward, CA, Josh Ryan Evans made his screen debut in two Halloween episodes of "Family Matters" (ABC, 1989-1997; CBS, 1997-98) as Stevil, Steve Urkel's (Jaleel White) murderous ventriloquist's dummy. He impressed with a recurring role on "Ally McBeal" (Fox, 1997-2002) as a child prodigy lawyer and served as the stunt double for the film "Baby Geniuses" (1999). After booking roles as General Tom Thumb in the biopic "P.T. Barnum" (A&E, 1999) and the younger self of Jim Carrey's titular holiday hater in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (2000), Evans landed his most famous role, the doll Timmy, magically animated by the scheming witch Tabitha (Juliet Mills) on the wackier-than-usual soap opera "Passions" (NBC, 1999-2007; The 101 Network, 2007-08). The most popular and memorable aspect of a show bursting with quirky characters, plots and twists, Evans was nominated for a Daytime Emmy and won two Soap Opera Digest Awards as well as a YoungStar Award. In many ways the soul of the series, Evans and Timmy made headlines for the tragic way life imitated art. On Aug. 5, 2002, the same day the character died, so too did Evans after heart surgery. In tribute to the extremely well-liked actor, the show honored Evans by dedicating the episode to him and including a scene of Timmy in heaven.
