My review is the mirror opposite of Alex. I found the plot of this film stale and cliche and there is not one good thing I can say about it.

This was my second film I saw of hers, with the first being "Too Many Girls" in 1940. In that film, she stood out and that is why I checked out "The Bamboo Blonde." All I can say is that she is BEAUTIFUL in this film and she has a magnificent voice!!! The plot is new and creative and the acting is incredible from each and every actor. There isn't one bad thing I say about this movie, because like many others during this era of Hollywood, they were flawless.

  • FRANCES LANGFORD SOARS AS THE BAMBOO BLOND

Beautiful Frances Langford stars in this wonderful WWII musical. Frances dark creamy contralto enchants in this tale of found love/lost love/found love. Russell Wade is perfectly cast as the fly boy. The durable Iris Adrian is superb in a supporting role. But it's Frances Langford that lights up the screen with that billion dollar smile that steals the movie and steals your heart. A must see!

  • FRANCES LANGFORD IS BLONDE!

"THE BAMBOO BLONDE" IS A MOVIE ABOUT A BLONDE, AN AIRPLANE, AND A PILOT WITH A JEALOUS GIRLFRIEND. POPULAR SINGER FRANCES LANGFORD STARS AS THE BLONDE WHO MEETS A PILOT (RUSSELL WADE) WHO IS OFF TO WAR. THEY QUICKLY BECOME FRIENDS, AND WHEN THE PILOT REPORTS FOR DUTY HE HAS A LARGE PIN-UP PICTURE OF FRANCES PAINTED ON THE SIDE OF HIS PLANE. EVERYONE WONDERS JUST WHO THIS BLONDE REALLY IS, AND EVENTUALLY THEIR RELATIONSHIP BECOMES PUBLIC. THE PROBLEM IS, THE PILOT IS ENGAGED TO BE MARRIED. THINGS GO BACK AND FORTH FOR AWILE, BUT BY THE END OF THE FILM (AND A FEW SONGS LATER), EVERYTHING IS FINE. FRANCES LANGFORD AND CAST DO A GOOD JOB IN THIS LITE COMEDY. THIS MOVIE MOVES QUICKLY, HAS SOME GOOD SONGS, AND IS AN ENTERTAINING LITTLE B-MOVIE ABOUT LOVE DURING THE WAR. A MUST SEE FOR FRANCES LANGFORD FANS!
