spider baby - wonderful, maybe
- review by boo
I really enjoyed this off-beat comedy/horror. Lon Chaney Jr is great in this; he plays it as a straight drama. His characterization as the sane uncle in a home of crazies keeps the film anchored in the horror genre. The spider-baby sisters are a couple of gals that would be fun to hang out with. This movie is a 'must' (or is it musty) 'see'.Unlike some other reviewers here (kay), I appreciate when TCM has a theme and shows multiple films of the same genre - keep it up.Regarding the comments of 'kay 1/29/19', you ought to be ashamed. Instead of commenting on the film, you use/abuse this forum to attack excellent TCM host Alicia Malone. Why? Apparently because she is NOT Robert Osborne and NOT born in America. Yeah kay, let's make TCM great again and keep all immigrants out. Gee, if only we could build a wall.
Please air some great old films
Look, please stop the TVland type marathons of one kind of films all day. I've about had it. Robert Osborne used to select an assortment of films that offered options throughout the day. Now it's horror films all day, etc. One or two, yes. While I am at it, while, of course, nobody could possibly replace the greatly missed Robert Osborne, and while I hasten to say how much I admire Ben and his calm, measured and professional introductions, why are we stuck with an Australian female? She has nothing to offer. Isn't there a woman in Hollywood who can add to, not detract from, TCM? PLEASE! This is an AMERICAN medium. A Hollywood medium. I don't care how "qualified" she is, she is bad TV with her Australian accent and sense of entitlement. It's time TCM searched for a really great female to augment really great men. A really qualified woman who can speak and act like Robert Osborne.I do really enjoy and appreciate the Film Noir guy, he is really great. Knows his subject, just like Robert Osborne. Thank you for listening.
Jill Banner was in a lot of great Dragnet episodes

I WAS FLIPPING CHANNELS WHEN SOMETHING ABOUT THIS MOVIE JUST STOPPED ME DEAD IN MY TRACKS (PUN INTENDED)! I WON'T USUALLY START WATCHING A MOVIE ONCE IT BEGINS BUT TODAY ON TMC WAS DIFFERENT. 1ST I CAME IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF THE "NAKED KISS" WHICH I COULDN'T TURN FROM TILL THE (TOTALLY SURPRISING) END. THEN THIS WACKED OUT FREAKFEST CAUGHT ME FROM THE FIRST SCENE I SAW. I'M TALKING LESS THAN 30SEC FOR BOTH! RENT THEM PEOPLE! BUY THEM! WATCH THEM! THANK GOD (OR TED TURNER) FOR TMC!! BTW, MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE A "SPOILER" LINK FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'Y SEEN THE MOVIES. I NOW NEVER TO READ THE REVIEWS HERE AGAIN. BOTH MOVIES NEEDED YOU TO BE SURPRISED AT THE END.
