Cagney Easily Keeps Pace With Star Ayres
Watched during cime filled day lineup.Cagney is the guy Ayres wife really loves, gets her when the big boss buys it.Ayres really is a decent gangster, tries to rule fairly.Like him better than Muni in SCARFACE.Cop is good, too.Dwight Frye very effective "teacing a guy a lesson".Ayres must've been shredded by machine gun in ending.Learned the hard way no one leaves the rackets.
This Pic Belongs To Dwight Frye/James Cagney
Lew Ayres too mild and pretty.Cagney commands the screen,as in Public Enemy and Dwight Frye is a close second to Cagney as gangster.Too bad Frye didn't live to see a more successful career, dying young from heart attack.
FROM THE STUDIO THAT GAVE US THE PUBLIC ENEMY
- Patricia Gonzalez
Doorway to Hell (1930) boasts the BIGGEST shootout in a gangster film of the 1930's involving nearly 100 people outside of a brewery building.
