Brief Synopsis

Cmdr. Draper and Col. McReady are astronauts who are nearly smashed to smithereens by a passing meteor. McReady is killed, but Draper is able to abandon ship. He lands on the dusty, desolate surface of Mars with Mona, the test monkey. Draper befriends an escaped slave named Lundin and eventually learns how to breathe the Martians'' oxygen, eat their food, and drink their water.
