The working titles of the film were State Highway Patrol and Mob Fury. Hollywood Reporter noted that director/producer John H. Auer was assigned to the film after producer M. H. Hoffman resigned from Republic. According to Hollywood Reporter and Los Angeles Times news items, Penny Singleton was signed to play the role of "Marian Franklin," but was replaced by Rochelle Hudson when she was "held up by a previous commitment." Another Hollywood Reporter news item noted that Eddie Cherkose was signed to write two songs for Cliff Edwards. Hollywood Reporter production charts included Emmett Vogan in the cast; his participation in the final film has not been confirmed, however. This picture marked British film actor Barry Mackay's American film debut.
